Hello My loves,
I could not believe how happy I am to write a Sulitpinay review post again. It has been forty years (just kidding) since I wrote my last Sulitpinay review. (I know) I am so sorry sisters and I will not even try to make excuses this time.Writing this post brings back a lot of good memories to be honest. I just realized how much happiness it gives me every time. It is like I am in a happy place. Why did I ever stopped?
Anyways, Summer is upon us and a lot of brands are launching products with SPF in their line. One of which is the Fashion 21. I am a bit delayed in trying out this product to be honest. It has been in Filipino markets for a while now and I just kept passing it up. Until a reader asked me to try this out. Say no more love, Myra is here for you. Enough blabbering, Let's get right into the review.
A brief background about the product, Fashion 21 Ultimate Cover BB cream and concealer has hit the stores last year. You can check out their website for more information. It does offer SPF 30 which is very timely for the summertime here in the Philippines. It also promises full coverage battling sweat and humidity. In addition, it has a lightweight formula while providing ultimate cover. Sounds promising, now let us put this baby on the road test.
The product comes in a squeeze tube and a twist lift off cap that contains the concealer. I always appreciate companies producing products that are 2 in 1. It has the BB cream on the tube and the concealer at it's cap. I love the brown and black color combo wrapped around it's tube.
One thing, I have noticed was the cap can get easily tainted with the concealer so you might want to be extra careful recapping it.
The shade number sticker can be easily ripped off from the tube as well. Good thing, It has the shade number on the box which I believe is doomed for throwing as well. It has three shades ( 1 being the lightest up and 3 as the darkest shade). The one that I got was shade number 1.
It has a very subtle jasmine smell. The smell isn't overpowering at all especially when applied to the face.
The price for this 2 in 1 product is 225 Philippine pesos. From my own point of view, this is very affordable and very fit for beauties with a tight budget.
The consistency was neither very thick nor thin. BB creams are known to have thin consistency with less coverage. This product offers ultimate cover, hence, I had high hopes. But considering the lightweight formula, I had a little doubt to be honest.
The concealer on top is a little bit thick in comparison to the BB cream in terms of consistency. It is also more opaque. It was written on the box that we can use both products either alone or in combination with each other.
Application wise, the BB cream was easy to apply but the concealer applies otherwise. I was having difficulty applying it with a sponge.I tried methods of application like tapping motion, stippling it and also applying it with my fingers motion. The best method to apply it, is the tapping motion for the concealer and using a sponge for the BB cream. That will make your application easier. For the concealer, I had some difficulty in blending it on my skin which is very inconvenient and time-consuming on my part. It was not my plan to sit for hours just trying to blend it in. In addition, I also want to put out there that you need to set this product with a powder since its finish is not matte.
LONGEVITY
Six hours total after my application, there is definitely diminished coverage on my nose and forehead. I normally have this issue when using face products but this particular product feels heavy for some reason. Since I have a combination to oily skin, the dry part of my face which is the jaw area has still some medium coverage though. For it's total time wear, I can say that It didn't stay longer as I have hoped for.
Given the price, It is really budget friendly which is good for our "sulitpinay"pockets. In addition, I love trying out products that are two in one. BB cream and concealer in one was such a cool idea. Unfortunately, it didn't lived up to my expectations. It wasn't ultimate cover at all. In fact, it was low on coverage. I had trouble with the concealer on its first day of application. I made a mistake of applying it over my undereye circles ( Obviously, that area needed some concealing). It's thick consistency made that area crease badly. Experience is the best teacher afterall. The concealer settled on the textures of my face and made my pores visible. I thought to myself maybe I need to exfoliate my face first. I did that and had given it two more days before reaching out for this product. When I applied it again for the second time. It settled again on the crevices, fine lines and emphasizes the textures on my face which unfortunately, not what I was going for. I discovered that it doesn't look good when applied in combo as well.
Considering the price, you definitely get what you pay for. Maybe it wasn't just for me. I had some issues regarding with its application and longevity. I am extra picky with my face products because I do have special needs in terms of my skin. But if you are just trying out or you have no skin issues going on maybe this may work for you. May I suggest to hold on to your 225 pesos and save for a "less paasa" but can deliver more face product.
And that is it for my Sulitpinay review, as usual all are honest opinions from me. This review was based solely from my own experience. This product may not work for me but may work for you. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed reading . I love you and see you on my next Sulitpinay post.
