Book Review: A court of Mist and Fury
6:17 AM
Hell yeah! This book is amazing.
If you haven't read this book then you're literally missing half of your life. Sarah J. Maas does it again. She has never disappointed me. NEVER. Never have I been so in love with a book that I have reread almost every night for my favorite parts. It's like love at first sight.
Welcome to another episode of our damsel reads. If you haven't read my last entry, I did a book review months ago about A Court of thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. Basically, DAMSEL READS is a special segment in my blog where I review books in the most unconventional way.
Our book for today, A Court of Mist and Fury,is the second book on Sarah's ACOTAR series ( A Court of Thorns and Roses). This particular book was released last May 2016. Before proceeding, please make sure that you have already read the first book in this series. And if you haven't read it yet, I'm sure you will love it and it will definitely change your life.
Let's start..
The story unfolds with Feyre's life after the mountain incident. Boy, It was tough. I had expected it to have more "romantic scenes" from the love birds in the sequel. Yes, there are steamy hot instances but the wrath of the past has clouded the most anticipated union. Back when I was reading the last chapter of the last book, I was so excited to see of what could become of their unity. Given the challenges that Feyre has taken to be with her love, I had expectations that the second book will give justice to their lost time together. But Sarah J Maas kept surprising me. Yes,there were steamy parts but it's as if Feyre was a little bit distant. I don't know if she suffered Post Traumatic Stress or what ( I think she did ) because "she wasn't feeling it at all". Tamlin, on the other hand, was so OVERPROTECTIVE over Miss little Feyre. Because of these unresolved inner conflicts, for the first time for both Feyre and Tamlin, I have felt that they were a complete contradiction. (Mind you, those were in the first chapters of the book).
On a happy note, they were going to get married anyway I said to myself and so, the wedding plans pushed through without even considering the inner differences between them. There were some new appearances in the story, there was that Priestess, some of the "friends of R" and new creatures. (spell spoilers). But they all have that heavy impact to the storyline later on. Same with the previous book, I couldn't put the book down. I had an extreme anticipation towards the wedding, the plans and how will they go about their lives after it. But little did I knew that there was a big surprise waiting for me.
Now this part, contains heavy spoilers. Go ahead and read the first book first because that will make the story more exciting and surprising. I promise you, that this one is a good read.
Back at the wedding, Rhysand decided to throw in a big surprise for the couple. Of all the time in the world, He just showed up claiming the bond on Feyre . This is where I got my heart broken because it just confirmed that Tamlin and Feyre are not for each other. I just had this feeling when Rhysand turned up one day at Tamlin's house in the First book. During the wedding as she was walking down the aisle, Feyre kept thinking out loud " NO". And during that time, I kept saying YES to that hot Tamlin but Sarah just had a lot of plans for the story. And it occurred to me that the second book is not about Tamlin and Feyre but about Rhysand and Feyre. We are all in for a big surprise after all. I just couldn't recovered from the realization that beneath the fantasy, there was this relatable feeling the story has imparted. It made sense to me that this is not pure fantasy where you get everything you want.It is a reality that no matter how hard you fight for the one you think you love, you will soon realized his not the one.
As the story progresses, Rhysand just grew in me. I knew he was already hot and gorgeous but there was a soft spot in him for Feyre. In fact, most feared him but he showed that breakable side of him to her. I love that there a lot of realms in the story that was depicted. And after so many chapters, the story made sense to me. And before I knew it, I had totally forgotten about Tamlin and I'm shipping Rhys and Feyre. Yes people, Sarah J. Maas is the bomb!.
With all honesty, I think the book is a mixture of heart break and falling in love again. As expected, Sarah delivered with the twists and turns of the story. All I can say is,"Wow! It's really amazing!". If you have gotten this book, what are your thoughts about the story?..Share it down below.
And that's it for this book review, make sure you get your ACOMF book. For now, I'm going to sign out and reread this book again. Boy, I'm EXCITED!.
Love you,
